Topic: Will Federer win his 16th Slam?

I'm confident that Federer will win another slam, but for some reason I don't think it will be this US Open. He is playing well, but so are a lot of other players. Also, having 2 babies might be distracting for him. I hope he does it, but I just don't know if he can. Anyone think he might win this year?

I don't know, Im in two minds. Which is cheating, I guess, as there's only two possible outcomes!

I agree that the babies can be a distraction but it wouldnt really be fair to speculate too much over that, who knows how it feels to be a father in that situation.

I think he may just be able to do it.

This year looks like he will have his most competition. Murray, Djokovic and Del Po all look very strong going into this event. Nadal obviously isn't 100%, but you know he will give it everything he has. Roddick will be in the mix of course and then if you have a guy like Tsonga or Verdasco get hot they can do big things. As for a prediction, if Roger brings his A game, I think he's got it. The only person I think who can challenge him when he is at the top of his game is Nadal, and Nadal will not be 100%.

I agree Aiur, the competition will be very tough for Federer this year. In order to win he will have to get through some fit, young, amazing players. I think we will see a high number of 5 set matches this year, and the winner will have to be amazingly fit (like Federer!) in order to have enough energy to win it.

The answer is YES - Fed will win #16!!!! He is in amazing shape, he is mentally strong and confident after winning the last two slams, and most importantly he has won the last 5 US Opens!! He is unstoppable.

I agree - Fed is on a roll and there is no reason for it to stop now. But hoping Roddick can pull some nice moves and make it to the finals again...

It's hard to argue with 5 US Open wins in a row - that is amazing. I agree that no one has as good a chance as Federer, and I hope he can pull this one out.
