Topic: What do you think of the current point system?

The current point system gives negative points if one of your team members loses in the first 3 rounds. The logic behind this was that all of your players should make it to the 4th round, and if they don't then you get negative points (for example, -32 points if the player loses in the 1st round, -16 points if the lose in the 2nd round).

Some people have requested that this be changed so that only positive points are given. They feel that the negative points make the game less fun.

What do you think about this?

Re: What do you think of the current point system?

This has been my first experience on the site, and let me first say that it is a great site. I love playing fantasy sports games and pick em' games, and I could never find a decent tennis pick em'.

Anyway, as for the point system, I can see how it would be confusing and turn people away. I don't mind it at all, but this would be my suggestion if you were to change it:

1st round loss - 0 points
2nd round loss - 2 points
3rd round loss - 5 points
4th round loss - 7 points
QF loss - 10 points
SF loss - 15 points
F loss - 20 points
Winner - 30 points

Re: What do you think of the current point system?

So the change I decided to make was more in line with the current point system. I wanted to remove most of the negative points and give more positive points. With the new point system, you only get negative points of a player on your team loses in the first round (-16). Otherwise, you get +16 points for each match they win until the 4th round, and then 8 points for any subsequent rounds.

The goal is to try and make the two portions of the game somewhat equal so that you have to do well in both the team and that match predictions to win.

Re: What do you think of the current point system?

I don't know if this is a glitch or not, but apparently a 4th round loss nets you 56 points, but a QF loss only gets 48 points. Is that supposed to happen?

Re: What do you think of the current point system?

Until the 4th round, each win gets you +16 points per player. And if a player gets to the 4th round who is seeded 17 to 32 you get +8 points, and +16 point bonus for an unseeded player. After a player gets to the 4th round you get +8 points for each round they advance. This was done because the original idea was to think of the 4th round as the focal point, and then after that point the focus switches to the match predictions. You also get points for correctly predicting the finalists and the winner, and you get +8 points for each round that your player advances after they get to the 4th round.

Do you think this makes sense? Let me know what you think.

IDK, I just think that you should progressively get more points as the round goes on. Maybe instead of making the match predictions a part of your team, how about a separate little "bracket challenge" where you just pick players from the first round to the winner, sort of like March Madness?
