Topic: 2012 champs

Who do you think will win the 2012 grand slams
In Australia I'm going with djokovic
In Paris I'm going with rafa yikes (gasp)
In Wimbledon I'm going with federer
And the us I'm gonna go with roger again

In the womens
Australia= azerenka
French= bartoli
Wimbledon= Serena
NYC= wozniaki yikes... What!!!!! I picked the number one in the world in the womens to win a tournament... Unacceptable.

Re: 2012 champs

LOL at the Woz comment. big_smile
Caught me off guard with that one.

For now, I am just going to say Djokovic for everything until someone proves they can beat him (I'm looking at you, Federer).

Women, Zheng Jie for everything.  Because I am optimistic to the point of delusion.

Re: 2012 champs

Bartoli at The French Open is like picking Stosur at The Australian

Re: 2012 champs

Too early to predict with any real confidence but I'll give it a crack...

MEN

AO - Nole
RG - Nole
Wimby - Fed
Olympics - Rafa
US - Nole

WOMEN

AO - Serena
RG - Stosur
Wimby - Kvitova
Olympics - Serena
US - Clijsters

I'm expecting Nole to dominate again this season in the men.
I'm also expecting the women's titles to be up for grabs at all four Slams.

Would be kinda cool if the top 4 guys all won 1 GS title this year...or someone outside the top 4 to win would be even better...e.g Tsonga or Del Po

Re: 2012 champs

Wow. Some interesting choses so far. This is fun yet difficult. I too think it'll be a Nole dominated year. He just has way too much confidence right now. The women are all over the place though I don't expect the total surprises of last year.

Here's my go:

Men

AO: Djokovic
FO: Djokovic
W: Federer
O: Djokovic
US: Del Potro (if he has his mojo back by then)

Women

AO: Li
FO: Schiavone
W: S. Williams
O: Kvitova
US: Sharapova

Re: 2012 champs

Australian: Djokovic
French: Nadal
Wimbledon: Nadal
US: Federer
The Olympics are so unpredictable, I'm not even gonna go there.
The same goes for women's tennis tongue

Didja miss me?

Re: 2012 champs

Always, my friend.  Always. wink

Where have you been??  Off having adventures?

-Arvis

Re: 2012 champs

Aussie - Rafa
French - Rafa
Wimby - Fed/Novak
Olympics - Fed
US - Novak

Haven't decided on Wimbledon 100% yet. As for the women, just throw about 10 names in a hat and pick one out.

Re: 2012 champs

Hey Adrian, why don't you have a picture in your profile?
It would be nice to see one in the Yoda Cup. smile

Re: 2012 champs

Adventures of a sort, I suppose! It's good to be back though.
Well Dragan I've tried to put a picture there but for some reason it won't let me...

Re: 2012 champs

Maybe you've put some picture format that is not suported? You go to account options and try something.
If not,you can post that issue to Charles on the help thread,he will surely tell you what's the problem.

AO: Jo-Wilfried

W: Roger
O: Roger
US: Novak/Milos

AO: Serena
FO: Victoria/Francesca/Samantha
W: Serena/Petra
O: Serena/Maria S.
US: Petra/Maria S

NOPE! sad

Re: 2012 champs

DAMMIT!! Alright, gotta try again...

Re: 2012 champs

Yep Roger has the best shot at dethroning Novak, in my opinion. He was the first to beat him last year and almost beat him at the us open. Rafa could not beat him last year. If roger meats novak on indoor, novak is dead. I wish there was a indoor slam. Roger would dominate. smile

You probably got that right.  I remember Amelie trying to win at the FO; it was too stressful for her, and the French fans were so crude.  I do believe the Australian crowd is more compassionate to its players.  Still, it is a daunting task.  Although, Marion has not been treated well, generally (until recently).  She just might muster the grit to play well, notwithstanding the stress, just to do a back at you kind of move.smile

Hey Adrian,I can see your Nadal picture. smile

Re: 2012 champs

Excellent! I'm glad it's finally working big_smile

Re: 2012 champs

SAWLEO - I agree with your comments about Bartoli. Although I'm not a fan of hers myself, I am constantly surprised by how well she plays her matches. I think she could have a real good shot at the french. She's played well there before and I don't think she feels the pressure of the french people so much. To me it's a matter of her having a few big wins in a row. She would need help with the draw and players bouncing early but if she's left to produce only a few big wins she could take it.

Re: 2012 champs

Here are my guesses about the champions:

AO: Nole & Kvitova
RG: Rafa & damned if I know -- maybe Stosur or Azarenka???
W: Nole & Serena
US: Murray (!) & Clijsters (?)

What an impossible task!

Bartoli does not have a slam championship in her IMO.  She jumps around so much she's toast way before the last ball is struck.  She absolutely will run out of gas in the semis at the latest.  It's foolish.

Adrian, where did your Rafa pic go?

Re: 2012 champs

I dunno Don, it's very temperamental for some reason. I've given up on trying to figure it out.
As for your Murray pick I say no chance...it's probably just gonna be Djokovic again. Rafa's energy usually starts flagging after Wimbledon, Fed is a legitimate threat but just not that much of a world beater anymore, and Murray is a choke artist. But I kind of want to see him win one or two, because he is such a talented player.
