Topic: HSBA Release Odds For Australian Open Yoda Cup & 2012 Yoda Guru Race!

The Han Solo Betting Agency have today released their opening betting Odd's for both the 2012 Australian Open "Yoda Cup" competition and the Grand Slam season competition race to become the inaugural "Yoda Cup Guru" in 2012!

Head Bookie Mr Chew Bucka stated that "The opening Grand Slam tournament of the year in Melbourne, Australia always brings with it lots of excitement and expectation!"
"All Yoda Cup competitor's start fresh and on an even playing field and they will all be keen I'm sure to perform well and get off to a good start in 2012, especially this year though, since all points won at every Grand Slam event will accumulate and eventually decide who will be awarded the inaugural title of the prestigious Yoda Cup Guru!" said Bucka.
smile

Mr Bucka, affectionately known as Chewie, also stated that "us bookies always find it difficult to set the opening odds for the first Grand Slam event of the new season, it's because we don't have any current form to go by so a big part of our criteria is based on historical performance in previous competitions."
"And of course this year we also have the 4 Grand Slam Yoda Cup Guru race to add to the puzzle so it causes a few more headaches than normal for us, nothing that can't be fixed by a Pivo or two though." said Chewie.
wink

Chewie, the hairy top dog from the HSBA also stated that " We believe this year's Australian Open has the ability to become a wide open race and cost us quite a bit of money!"
"Of course as a betting agency we are hoping that our predictions are fairly accurate and that we don't suffer too much monetary damage from large investments being placed on a dark horse or two, I'm not overly confident that will not eventuate though".
"And of course any so-called outsiders who perform well in Melbourne will then have made a great start in the Yoda Guru race so it's a double edged sword for us which the HSBA are obviously a little nervous about" said Chewie.
hmm

The HSBA have installed joint favourites for the Australian Open Yoda Cup 2012 competition with last years two Yoda Cup Champions Aiur from Philadelphia and the well performed “kiwi” from New Zealand ,Tono, being the bookies popular pick to etch their name on the Cup for a second time.

The Oklahoma resident Don slots in on the second line of betting, although serious questions still remain unanswered as to whether or not he will even compete.
On the third line of betting we have another duo with the 27 year old Serbian Dragan and young Australian CrossCourt unable to be separated on odds for this tournament by the bookmakers.

Backhandpass, the 48 year old Wisconsin resident and early season fronrunner in the Vader League follows next on the fourth line of betting with bookies deciding that his current picking form is obviously too good to ignore.
The youngster of the group and the newcomer from Texas, The Lost Scot, is on the fifth line of betting and his best result in the history of the GSFT competiton has seen his odds kept safe by the bookies first up.

The popular Yoda Crew member Arvis is next on the sixth line of betting, bookies remain wary of the young 23 year old from the fictional town of Narshe but he is still at longer odds.
GSFT administrator Charles comes in on the seventh line of betting and could be one for longer odds in Melbourne as he has a wealth of experience in playing the game.
Last season's well performed Vader Trophy competitor Wolmas is next sitting eighth on the betting line, he has yet to convince the bookmakers of his form in this format of Fantasy Tennis so he remains an outside chance in their opinion.

Adrian, the very quiet member of the Yoda Crew, is considered unlikely to make a charge for the title in Melbourne and will start ninth on the betting line, he will start the competition with as much chance as anyone else, although the bookies don't think so.
And on the tenth and final betting line we have the GSFT blogger extraordinaire Sophie, she is making her debut in the Yoda Cup competition and has been installed as the rank outsider for the opening event of the season, it's up to her to now prove the bookmakers wrong.

The odds for the season long Yoda Cup Guru race in 2012 are very similar to the opening odds for the Australian Open in Melbourne with last season's accumlated points being used as a guide by bookmakers.
Tono has been installed the early favourite to win the Yoda Cup Guru title followed by Don and then Aiur, Dragan and Backhandpass share the fourth line of betting with Arvis slotting in next.

CrossCourt comes in on the sixth line of betting followed by Charles and then the young debutant The Lost Scot.
Wolmas and Adrian have been inserted in at ninth and tenth respectively on the betting line to win the inaugural Yoda Guru title and the position of rank outsider goes to Sophie who sits in the eleventh and final spot in the pecking order of betting, according to the bookmakers.

All odds will be revised, updated and released again at the completion of Week 1 of the tournament, updated odds will then remain in place until the end of the tournament, bets can be made and will be taken right up to the start of the first Quarterfinal match, good luck everybody and remember to invest wisely! wink

Note: All Yoda Crew members have a maximum of $100 to invest on the player or players of their choice!
The person with the best return on investment at the end of the Australian Open tournament will be awarded the title of  “Yoda Vegas”!!

Re: HSBA Release Odds For Australian Open Yoda Cup & 2012 Yoda Guru Race!

I will put $50 on BHP and the other $50 on Dragan.

Myself, not so confident about this tournament one bit.

Re: HSBA Release Odds For Australian Open Yoda Cup & 2012 Yoda Guru Race!

Sneaky picks there Scotty eh, hedging you bets I see, I hear ya though about the confidence levels, nervous excitement more than confident at this stage. hmm

Dragan....It wouldn't be you if you were lacking in confidence mate! wink
I always know that there is a Yoda Cup competition about to start when you begin talking it up!! ...Bring It On my friend....Love it! smile
Good to see the competitive spirit is still alive and strong with you....the question being Dragan....as Yoda himself would say "Is the force strong enough with you"? lol

I must admit though that you could very well be correct when you say I'm going down (although I hope not), I am not overly confident heading into the first GS of the year due to the uncertainty in the women's draw,  have come to realise that if you want to do well in the GSFT format that you have to perform well with your women's team, I'm feeling just a wee bit apprehensive about mine at this stage. hmm

The nervous excitement is certainly building already as the first ball will be hit in just under 5 hours time....love the Aussie Open....can't wait!!
Good Luck everyone, look forward to seeing who you have all picked very soon! big_smile

P.S. Not sure where I'll put my $100 just yet! wink

Re: HSBA Release Odds For Australian Open Yoda Cup & 2012 Yoda Guru Race!

The tricky one for the men's team will be the unseeded player. I get the feeling there's going to be a lot of Tomic lovers out there, and I am just not sure whether to do the same.

Re: HSBA Release Odds For Australian Open Yoda Cup & 2012 Yoda Guru Race!

100.00 on BHP.  Tono edit note please delete 48 year old on my Bio or add 46 year old to yours. smile  smile  smile

Re: HSBA Release Odds For Australian Open Yoda Cup & 2012 Yoda Guru Race!

LOL.....and why would you want me to do that re the ages BHP?? Don't worry I'll be using my age in other write ups along the way, gotta be fair for one and all! smile
$100 hundred bucks on BHP is a healthy return of $1000, if you win you might be the "Yoda Vegas" for the Aussie Open mate....good luck!

Re: HSBA Release Odds For Australian Open Yoda Cup & 2012 Yoda Guru Race!

Interesting I'm rated so high in the "Guru" race.  Looks like somebody was paying attention to my average points total across both Grand Slams last year.  Rats.  I'm not staying discreet enough.

Re: HSBA Release Odds For Australian Open Yoda Cup & 2012 Yoda Guru Race!

The Han Solo Betting Agency have just released their updated odds for the Australian Open 2012 Yoda Cup competition.

The tournament is about to commence the Round of 16 matches and the big matches are about to descend upon us.
Head bookie Mr Chew Bucka stated that "as expected the competition has been very close in the first Grand Slam event of the year, we think that 8 or 9 of the competitors are still in the hunt to win the cup so it's going to be a very interesting week of tennis ahead."
"We have decided to update the odds for the Yoda Cup Guru race at the completion of the tournament in Melbourne as we will have a clearer picture then of where everyone sits in the pecking order," said Chewie!

The HSBA now have 27 year old Serbian Dragan at 3-1 as their favourite on their first line of betting with last year's inaugural Yoda Cup champion Tono the bookies second choice to take out the AO Yoda Cup competition, current leader CrossCourt sits third on the line of betting but rumours are circulating that he may be hampered by not being able to make all of his match prediction picks in time.
Defending Yoda Cup Champion Aiur sits on the fourth line of betting followed by the early front-runner in the competition Arvis who is fifth in line.
Backhandpass is favoured on the sixth line of betting followed by Don who the bookies are keeping safe on the seventh line of betting, Adrian slips in on the eighth line followed by The Lost Scot who takes the ninth line of betting.
Wolmas heads up the outsiders to take the title on the tenth line of betting ahead of GSFT administrator Charles who sits in eleventh place on the line, the betting is rounded out by Sophie, the pre tournament outsider from England, who has had a less than successful start to her Grand Slam Fantasy Tennis season, she sits on the twelfth and final betting line spot.

Here are the updated odds on the Australian Open Yoda Cup competition :

Dragan $3.00
Tono $4.00
CrossCourt $5.00
Aiur $6.00
Arvis - $8.00
Backhandpass - $10.00
Don - $12.00
Adrian - $14.00
The Lost Scot - $16.00
Wolmas - $20.00
Charles - $30.00
Sophie - $100.00

All bets will close before the start of the quarterfinal matches!!

Re: HSBA Release Odds For Australian Open Yoda Cup & 2012 Yoda Guru Race!

Why should I change tactics,100$ on my self.Although the odds are not so tempting, but in the same time not too bad. smile

One advice to mr.Chew Bucka. There can't be three odds that are the same.Especialy on the top. There must be always at least the slitest difference betwen the odds. The bigger difference better the bookie. wink

Re: HSBA Release Odds For Australian Open Yoda Cup & 2012 Yoda Guru Race!

You already have the BIGGER bet on yourself at longer odds at the start of the tournament Dragan so no need for you to re-invest my friend...you are looking like a good chance to get a $1000 return at this stage!!
I will have to remain loyal and invest my $100 on TONO!!! wink...a $400 return might be good enough to win the Yoda Vegas title at the AO....who knows!!

I have passed on your improvement suggestion to the bookies at HSBA Dragan wink....they will look at implementing that in the near future....I did hear from an "inside" source at HSBA though that if push came to shove their favourite would be........wait for it..........DRAGAN!! smile.....probably followed closely by Tono and then CrossCourt at this point in time....all will be revealed in one weeks time, who is gonna get their name on the Yoda Cup first in 2012....stay tuned and find out....exciting stuff!!! big_smile

Re: HSBA Release Odds For Australian Open Yoda Cup & 2012 Yoda Guru Race!

The Han Solo Betting Agency have just released their updated Odds for the 2012 Yoda Cup Guru competition.

The current Yoda Cup Champion Dragan from Serbia has now firmed as favourite to take out the inaugural Yoda Cup Guru title in 2012!
His record points haul in the first Grand Slam of the year in Melbourne, Australia recently has him sitting in the top spot in the Guru race, he currently holds a lead of 128pts over Tono from New Zealand who nows drops from early season favouritism onto the second line of betting.

Although he currently sits in fourth place overall the bookies have installed Don, the Oklahoma elder statesman, as their third favourite to win the inaugural title based on consistency, he is currently 176pts behind the leader.
At fourth on the betting line is Backhandpass from Wisconsin who had a successful first up performance in Melbourne and currently sits comfortably in third place overall trailing the leader by only 144pts.

Former Yoda Cup champion Aiur slots in as the fifth favoured contender to win the title outright, the Philadelphia resident currently trails the leader by 288pts and will be looking for a Top 3 finish at Roland Garros to improve his credentials.
On the sixth line of betting is Arvis from Florida, he made a strong start in Melbourne but fell away a little bit towards the end of the tournament, he currently sits 296pts out of first place and will be looking for a strong and consistent effort at Roland Garros in late May.

Favoured seventh to win the Guru race is the GSFT administrator from the Big Apple in New York, Charles, although he made a slow start at the first Grand Slam of the year he did rise up the leaderboard after being near the bottom, he is currently 352pts out of the top position.
At eighth on the betting line we find North Carolina's very own Adrian, he was right in the mix early on in Melbourne but his pre tourney winners picks weren't successful and he now has some ground to make up.

Ninth favourite to win the Guru race is the young man from Australia, CrossCourt, he was leading the tournament right up until match prediction time in Melbourne before being unable to make nearly all of his match prediction picks, this anomaly saw him slide down the leaderboard and he will now be relying on a big performance at the French Open to put himself back in with a shot.
On the tenth line of betting we have The Lost Scot, the young man from Texas, who started well in Melbourne but faded away towards the end, his cause wasn't helped by faling to make his match prediction pick for the men's final.

Wolmas sits a long way down the pecking order on the eleventh line of favouritism, failing to pick any pre tourney finalists and a few incorrect match picks cost the man from New Jersey any chance of a better finish in Melbourne, he will now need a big points haul at the French Open to climb his way up the table.
On the twelfth line of betting and the rank outsider to win the inaugural Guru race is SophieG the GSFT blogger from England, after a disappointing effort in Melbourne she will be looking to try and move up the leaderboard with a much improved performance at Roland Garros in May.

The current Odds for the 2012 Yoda Cup Guru Race are as follows :

Current Yoda Cup Guru 2012 Odds

Dragan $4.00
Tono $6.00
Don $8.00
Backhandpass $10.00
Aiur $12.00
Arvis $15.00
Charles $18.00
Adrian $20.00
CrossCourt $25.00
The Lost Scot $30.00
Wolmas $40.00
SophieG $50.00
