Topic: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

http://www.tourneytopia.com/RacquetBrac … fault.aspx

The AO itself is hosting a weird sort of "pick 'em" through their official site, but no bracket.

I thought with the success of the Obi Wan Cannoli at the US Open, we could try and do something similar for this tournament!

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

I've created account although I don't have the right to claim prize.
Only US cityzens have the right for prizes.

And it's not AO official site bracket, but tennis channel bracket competition.

I'm in.

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

I usually play these so I am in too.

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

So have you set up a private league for us yet Arvis???
Or are we just going to be part of the main comp?

I was thinking the other day....Why don't ALL the GS websites have a bracket challenge on them? It would make our life so much easier huh...sigh! lol....Maybe we could use this tennis channel site???
That would allow us to not just have the "Obi Wan Cannoli" bracket challenge at the US Open but we could keep a record of points scored in all four Slams and have a new competition born......Maybe keep the Obi Wan theme and call it a "Challenge" instead of a Cannoli....we have a Cup, Trophy and Crown, what would this be called???....just a thought anyway hmm

We should try and get the whole Vader Gang on board before the AO starts....Arvis since you are the creator I will leave you to contact the remaining 4 individuals (Thomas, Aiur, Crosscourt, Lost Scot) to gauge their interest!! smile

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

Tono, the link above should take you right to the Private Pool I created just for us.  This site is very user-UNfriendly and poorly made.  Impossible to accomplish anything with any ease or degree of certainty.

What happens when you click the link?

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

It takes me to the link The C3P0 Cheerio...I'm assuming that is you....LOL!
I'm assuming I only have to register 'for the main game and I can be involved in the C3PO Cheerio??

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

I've done my pre-registration in C3PO Cheerio. smile

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

No invitation needed, i'll be sure to sign up today or tomorrow.

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

Tono,

Yes, I think that's how it works.  Draw comes out tonight at 9pm EST in the States, so... let's see how easy or difficult submitting our draws are then.

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

I think we need a place where we house all of our links and detailed information on all of our leagues, racket brackets and such. I am not sure I have a handle on all of it. We have created something unique and as it keeps growing, we need a place where we and especially new members can go and use as a resource. Or is this information out there somewhere already?

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

You're right!

I doubt it's out there.

It's all a scary mess, really.

Honestly, the best thing would be for us to just CREATE OUR OWN WEBSITE that centralizes everything.  But... that's not really a feasible option unless somebody knows HTML code or Dreamweaver or something.

-Arvis

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

LOL....I know the song "Dreamweaver"....does that count Arvis! lol

Ohhh...And I forgot to mention to you too that I love the name of the bracket racket challenge...............The C3PO Cheerio!!.....Very inventive big_smile

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

I've decided not to participate in any GS bracket.
GSFT and FTT is enough.
I don't want to get in the situation that in GSFT I need for example Wawrinka to win and on the bracket someone who is playing against him.And those situations will occur surely.

So I have my GSFT and FTT teams and I'm cheering for them.

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

Has everyone decided to be a poopy-butt like Dragan and not participate in the C3PO Cheerio that I spend so much time on creating? sad

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

I am a joiner so I will play, and what did I tell you about name calling, Arvis.  smile

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

Well I have picked my mens bracket in C3PO and in the main room...I have picked my womens bracket too but I have a feeling it hasn't transferred those picks to C3PO hmm the website is a bit of a pain actually hmm I'm use to our Vader/Yoda & R2D2 pages.
I'll keep trying to get my women's team transferred across to C3PO but they aren't making it easy....maybe I'll call on R2 to help! wink

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

Sorry Tono, I would have had to create Private Pools for BOTH the Men's and Women's.  I never made one for the women, because:

1. I couldn't really think of a decent Star Wars + Food themed name. (Lando Flan Dough? Mispronounced, and I don't think flan is made with dough.  Jabba-laya?  Pizza The Hutt?  Idk.)
2. I didn't really have time.
3. Didn't think anyone cared enough about the women's game.

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

Ahhh that will explain it then, no problemo.... thanks Arvis! smile

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

I know that it's a joke, but keep it without those stupid names,ok Arvis?

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

LOL, you got it Dragan. wink

One of these days we'll have to think of really serious, awesome-sounding name for one of these things!

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

Lol doing soo good so far hantacova pulled one out and azerenka dominated

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

To be precise the guy was Anyone but Novak. big_smile

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

LOL....You guys crack me up, good to see everybody in good spirits though all the same! smile

Only day one of the Aussie Open and already we have seen a men's singles match go over 4 hours....is it fair to say that Fernando Verdasco is now past his prime then??....or is it more that Bernard Tomic is on his way up??.... or maybe a bit of both!

Re: Australian Open 2012 Racket Bracket!

I watched a couple points of Verdasco's epic match with Nadal at the 2009 AO.  It's like he isn't even the same guy that played in that match.  That guy could have won a Slam easily.  This Verdasco will never even come close.  EVER.  In ANY era.

Would be nice if the Tennis Channel would go ahead and update the brackets.

It's a bit of both. smile
