Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

Hey Tono, I see that you are getting things ready yourself for the 2012 season! I now have Internet access at home, so looking forward to a complete and consistent season. Not long now...

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

Hi BHP, compliments of the season to you smile....not long now indeed, awesome that you have your computer access problems all sorted....especially if we ended up being doubles partners in 2012! wink

I'm on holiday from work until the 9th of January so I thought I would make use of some of my nice relaxing days at home and get the "stats" pages all ready for The Vader Trophy.

Can all you guys see the new 2012 Vader Trophy version when you log in to FTT??
If not then they will email me the link so we can all be ready to go at the end of this week...it's come around pretty quickly but I'm sure everyone is keen and raring to go. smile

I will endeavour to get a final answer from everyone on whether we will run a doubles comp in 2012 soon too....it doesn't require any more picks or work from anyone apart from me keeping a points table which I enjoy doing anyway.

Don, Aiur and CrossCourt....if you guys are out there please let us know your thoughts about running a doubles comp in 2012.  smile

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

Boy this offseason has felt LONG!!

LOL, not really, and yet I am still VERY pumped for the AO in one month!!

I've noticed that the tennis schedule makes life seem faster, though.  That's really the only bad thing about tennis.

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

Hey Arvis, welcome back to the fold my man....seasons greetings smile
You are correct, the tennis schedule does speed up the days somewhat huh...unless there is no tennis being played that is lol

Hard to believe the new 2012 season kicks off this Sunday in Brisbane....all those in the Vader Gang get ready to rumble and make your picks, it's going to be an exciting and fun season for sure! big_smile

Doesn't look like the doubles idea is gonna reach a decent majority from the group though at this stage....looks like singles competition it is gentlemen!! smile

What a nice sweeping of Roger Federer this was.
You just keep on with offensive talk towards Novak mr. Federer, and you want be getting those three games ider!

Bravo Nole majstore!

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

Nole seems to be riding his good form right into 2012, isn't he Dragan? Rafa's shoulder is a big concern.

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

Yeah,Nole really look good, and I'm happy about it.But I'm not sure what other players(especialy Rafa) think about that. big_smile

Novak took a huge break after US Open, missing Aisan tour, and practically skiping Paris masters and masters cup.I think that it was a skip becouse it was obvious that he was way under his 100% there.
It seams like that was another smart decision by him and his great team.

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

Well, my laptop died for the second time in as many weeks, so it looks like I'll be starting the 2012 season with a big fat zero.  Great.  I'll just be wallowing at the bottom of the Vader rankings the entire year.  This sucks.

-Arvis

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

Oh NO Arvis....You got family or friends close by or an internet cafe or something so you can make your picks???

Arvis you can email me your picks if you want and give me your log in details etc and I will make them for you. smile....although if your laptop has died you may not even get to read this in time huh hmm
Anyway the offer is there if you want to take me up on it! big_smile

Good to be back talking tennis again smile smile
Welcome back Dragan.....are you all set and raring to go in 2012 then?

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

Thanks for the welcome,I'm ready all right.Ready and have high ambitions. smile

And Tono is right Arvis. There are many ways for you to make picks.I was whole last summer without computer and making picks in the internet cafe.

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

I somehow knew you would be mate!! smile And I know how high your ambitions are too wink

I see Nole wiped the floor with Fed in the exhibition match....it's only early season practice for all of them really but Novak might have tried to remind Roger what he is going to be up against in 2012 I think....early days though but BHP is right about Rafa's shoulder, that IS a concern especially heading toward the first GS of the season.

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

Someting is wrong with Nadal that's for sure.
He looked really weak today.

We have one more pick in the fantasy tennis tour,8 is maximum number this year.

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

Did you get to see the matches Dragan??? Guess that what happens when you have a world no.1 huh, Serbian's love their tennis don't they! smile

Yep 8 picks is the maximum for each player this season, hopefully FTT don't change it half way through the season like they did in 2011.

It's like coming back "home" being back in here! lol

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

Yeah,we have every match covered in Abu Dhabi. And guess what,in a couple of hours Hopman Cup starts with China against France, and we have that one too on the same channel. big_smile
But it's late at night so I will be up for the morning matches. smile
And of course the last two matches from Abu Dhabi.

I must add that this intensive tennis coverage did not start with Noles first place.
We allways had a possibility to watch GS tournaments on the Euro Sport, and now and then on some our TV station.
But few years ago this SPORT KLUB channel came up and put some new limits.
They are not only for tennis, there is NBA,England Premiere league,Eurolegue basketball and much much more.
But tennis coverage is fenomenal, probably one of the reasons for that is the fact that we have so much great players, and the best one,Novak of course. smile

But in the same time they cover the tournaments whithout Serbian players too,so I'm hoping that this kind of program will continue in the future,no mater the ranking of our players.

Edit:

I was now on the SPORT KLUB site, there are no morning matches of Hopman Cup brodcast, only China-France.
But on the SPORT KLUB+ we have both matches of Abu Dhabi.
You can find site of Sport Klub Serbia on google, and see what I'm talking about. smile

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

Arvis, I feel for you. You know I just finished going through the same thing. Make it work! I am going to check out your channel, Dragan. Does anyone recommend any free streaming tennis sites? Now that I am back online sorry Arvis, I want to watch some upcoming matches.

And Tono, I wanted to thank you for doing such an incredible job keeping us informed and organized. I appreciate your efforts!

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

Thanks BHP, I'm happy to help if, where and when I can....but I do appreciate your comments so thanks mate! smile

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

I went with some underdogs for the first tournaments of the season. Let's see how this pans out.

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

Good to see you back Aiur smile
It's harder to make your picks when you have to leave some players out you would normally pick huh.....and the strategy in Vader begins wink

NEWSFLASH!!!
Han Solo Betting Agency will be releasing early season odds very soon for The Vader Trophy!! wink lol
Who will become the first "LORD" of the Vader League at the end of season 2012??? smile

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

Your condolences mean a lot to me everyone, thank you!  But guess what!?  fantasytennistour.com actually WORKS on my phone!  It doesn't even work on my Mac at work, but it works on my phone!  Crazy! big_smile

So I made all my picks for all three tournaments on my tiny little phone screen! big_smile

Want to say a big "HELLO" to BHP and Aiur also, good to see you guys back here for the new year. smile
I've said it before, but I reiterate: I wish all of us lived closer to each other so we could meet up to watch Grand Slam finals and maybe even play a few matches on court together.  As it is, might be tough for Dragan to fly out from Serbia just for a friendly tennis match. wink

@BHP: go to www.livescorehunter.com for free streaming of matches.  I have used it for over a year now and never had any problems.  And they USUALLY have every match, just sometimes a more obscure player will be playing on a court that has no cameras, so no dice when that happens.

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

My first BUSTED PICKS of 2012:

Lukasz Kubot (guess he's playing back down to his level)
Xavier Malisse (nooo Professor X!  Terrible way to start the year for one of my favorite players)

And that's it so far!  Raonic, Wawrinka, Bogo, and Monfils all have yet to play and none of them are guaranteed a win.

-Arvis

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

Awesome that your phone can make your picks for ya Arvis smile

Don't fret about Xavier too much Arvis....I had him on my team too sad was just going to take the easy option and go with Tipsy but thought it might be best to save him for bigger money tourneys downtrack since I already gambled on Tsonga in Doha, if Janko can get past Wawrinka then he has a great chance to start the new season with anoher ATP title.

Would be awesome if we could all meet up and watch GS finals etc together smile and maybe play the odd "friendly" match or two wink I'm sure there would be lots of light-hearted banter and plenty of trash talk and jibing etc going on too lol

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

I said earlier that my big wish is to watch a GS matches(espwcialy AO).
But I would not fit in properly on the court playing with you guys.
I was training tennis only one summer, maybe 12 years ago.Since then I was on the court maybe 10 times,so I'm a real amater.
But I plan to get active when the winter ends, hopefuly that will be enough to snatch a few games. big_smile

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

It is really interesting to see the different strategic picks from all the players on FTT in week 1....some have left out ALL the Top 10 guys in their 3 tourney picks and a few of them have picked one or two big guns early on....the only player I chose in the Top 10 was Tsonga in week 1....was going to take Tipsy too but decided to leave him for another day, I did consider taking Roger instead of Jo-Wilfred in Doha bcoz of the bigger winners prizemoney on offer but decided to keep my powder dry with Fed till later also. smile

I noticed that BHP is keen on a good start in Vader....he has picked Rafa, Fed, Murray and Tsonga in week 1....new strategy this year eh BHP?? wink

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2012)

Long way to go anyway eh Thomas, plenty more trials and tribulations to come for the ATP players and all of us competitors on FTT yet I'm sure.....I do like the current look of the Vader leaderboard though I must say wink....it has a familiar number next to my name which I rather like! big_smile
Currently sitting 4th overall in FTT ain't too shabby either!! smile

Professor X has spoilt my perfect start to season 2012 sad so far he is the only one of my 12 picks who has lost....although I'm sure it won't be long before someone else joins him though lol
