Thanks for your feedback CrossCourt
It's looking more and more like the "INAUGURAL" awards are set for the end of our first full season next year then, that will give us 12 months to set in stone exactly what type of awards everybody wants, which I think is a good idea bcoz then everybody gets to throw their thoughts and ideas in the ring.
The main criteria must be that any award can be judged and given out on an annual basis.
I do think Arvis' suggestion that you can't vote for yourself should be voted in as a rule though...good idea Arvis
Actually after mulling it over I suggest we try and lock in the type of awards we all want before the Aussie Open kicks off in mid January...what do ya'll reckon??
We probably only need 4 or 5 anyway so lets have everyone's idea's then.....the player of the year and most improved player are certain no brainers IMO, we gotta have those two...I still like the Crew Favourite Player Award but it will need group consensus like any other suggestion, I think somebody's favourite player could change each year thats why I like that one...Don's suggestion of having a Sportmanship Award also has some merit...although I would prefer it to be called something along the lines of Yoda Crew Best & Fairest Award, that way it could encompass the game and our posts etc.
Best Individual Performance or Outstanding Performance is another good one, whatever suggestions we all make needs a Yoda Crew majority to rule over anyway so throw some in the pot if you desire guys.
Speaking of awards here are the WTA awards given out recently....
Lisicki, Radwanska, Schiavone win WTA awards
Ticker - Monday, November 14, 2011
Petra Kvitova wins four 2011 WTA fan and media awards. The Wimbledon champion and world No. 2 was voted the Player of the Year, Most Improved Player, Breakthrough Player and was honored with the Karen Krantzcke Sportsmanship Award.
Sabine Lisicki won the Comeback Player of the Year award. After an injury-marred 2010, the German won two titles in 2011 and reached three other semifinals, including at Wimbledon. She rose to a career-high ranking of No. 15. Irina-Camelia Begu of Romania won the Newcomer of the Year award after rising from No. 214 to No.38. The No. 1 doubles team of Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik were named Doubles Team of the Year after winning a WTA-leading six titles, including Wimbledon.
Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska was named Fan Favorite Singles Player; and Victoria Azarenka and Maria Kirilenko were named Fan Favorite Doubles Team. Francesca Schiavone won the Player Service Award, which recognizes the player who has done the most to support her fellow players through the WTA Players’ Council. The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix (Stuttgart) the Abierto Mexicano TELCEL (Acapulco) were named Tournaments of the Year.
At least Don and I can celebrate something together following Petra's success on scooping 4 awards...awesome recognition for Kvitova
