Topic: Can any underdogs take the Open

Whats going to happen in this years open is Del Potro going to win or Murray or Soderling?

Re: Can any underdogs take the Open

None of the above sorry M3 sad

Re: Can any underdogs take the Open

From what I saw of the draws, Berdych has a pretty easy ride into the quarters. His only competition on the way should be Monfils, who I feel has really over-performed on the hard courts this summer. Of course from there he would probably have to play Djokovic and then Nadal/Murray, so I don't give him much of a chance.

Del Potro is in a brutal section. A third round encounter with Gilles Simon is likely, Soderling probably in the 4th and Murray in the quarters. Don't see it happening. I went with del Po on my team because I didn't really see any 17-32 seeds making a run, but you never know I guess.

Re: Can any underdogs take the Open

It's nice to know that Tipsarevic has no chance against Berdych.  I guess I'll have to change my US Open bracket challenge men's bracket!

Tipsarevic will be sad to hear about that, too -- especially since he's 3-0 against Berdych in ATP level matches and just beat him handily in Toronto.  But if Aiur says he's no competition for Berdych, it MUST be true!

Re: Can any underdogs take the Open

Your hostility never ceases to amaze me. Everyone else on here is afraid to get into a confrontation with you because of your bullheaded nature, but I honestly have no problem with exchanging banter with E-Thugs. It's amazing how brash and narcissistic people can be over the internet. There's just something about all that anonymity that makes people tougher.

BTW, I'm still waiting for you to come and "bust my [censored] nose" as you so eloquently put it in that little E-Mail tirade of yours.

P.S. - His last name is Tipsarevic. If you're gonna pick the guy to have a nice little run, at least know how to spell his name.

Re: Can any underdogs take the Open

My hostility?  Now THATs funny.  Your post was nasty, nasty, nasty for no reason whatsoever.

You're wrong, as you often are, and resorted to insults and personal attacks because I pointed out that fact.  Your behavior is unacceptable.

I merely pointed out that you're wrong about Berdych's draw -- and I did not do that in a hostile way.  I did not engage in name-calling and personal attacks like you do.  I have nothing to apologize to you for.  The reverse is certainly not true, sir.

Re: Can any underdogs take the Open

Guys you are at it again!!! hmm
Don likes to "wind" people up sometimes Aiur, we all know that...I would hardly call his post hostile...he was just pointing out the fact about Tipsy's head to head record against Berdych that's all...maybe a touch of sarcasm but I didn't read anything hostile in his comments....if anything your reaction Aiur was probably uncalled for....but I'm also aware that you guys have history wink
C'mon guys.....keep the "love" in the Yoda house and get ready for a good battle for the Yoda Cup smile

Re: Can any underdogs take the Open

Tono, Aiur is the one who is "at it again."  It is NOT both of us doing it.

I am sick of Aiur's name-calling and personal attacks.  That is a totally unacceptable way to behave and he does it over and over again.

Hopefully Charles will deal with him in the manner he deserves and we won't have to put up with Aiur spewing all that hatred any longer.

As for me, I will absolutely continue to point out Aiur's many errors.  He will not shut me up by acting ugly in response.

All I did was point out that Berdych is in a cake section, which he absolutely is. Tipsarevic beat him three times in a row, wow. Dominik Hrbaty beat Fed the first two times they played as well. When they met a third time, Fed crushed him 3, 2 and 2. Tipsarevic is a guy who can lose his head in an instant and will even completely quit on matches if his opponent has the momentum. So yes, shame on me.

And please, do not bring up my "personal attacks" and "name-calling." For one thing, they are true. Secondly, they are extremely mild "insults" if you want to even treat them as such. You play nice with the rest of the posters and have a nice facade that you let people see, but thanks to those three glorious E-Mails you sent me I know your true personality.

As for any divine intervention by Charles, he had to apologize to me on your behalf for those lovely gems and when I told him I was taking a break from posting, he asked me not to.

Also, I do have fun when I come on here. I love tennis and I love being able to talk with other people who love the game as well. Up until January, I was absolutely loving this site. And then I found out you can never be wrong and you are willing to defend anything you say to the grave, so it just became old. I don't bother posting as much now because of exactly this reason. I post my opinion and you attack it ASAP. If you made a call like that and I made a post jabbing at it, you would be all over me. That's why I stay in the shadows nowadays and just pick my teams on the various sites and pop in to read the forums once in awhile.

Re: Can any underdogs take the Open

No, Aiur, your attacks and name-calling are not "true."  They are not "mild" insults, either.  The truth is that there is simply no excuse for your behavior.  Trying to explain it away does not make it acceptable.

Your excuses are just that.  Excuses.  Lame ones based on a disagreement in January, yet!  Your behavior in the present is what is unacceptable.  I do not and have not dwelt on your atrocious personality and other shortcomings, and apart from pointing that out in this one sentence, I'm not going to start now.  Personal attacks have no place here.  I will not stoop to that level, and you should stop doing it yourself.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with my post above, but there was a LOT wrong with both of yours.
And that is becoming the norm.

And you're still wrong about Berdych's draw, but as usual you won't admit it.  Your judgment about tennis is very accurately reflected in your performance in the competitions here, which is average at best -- and in which I fully expect to continue to beat you as badly in the future as I have in the past.  I promise to enjoy it when I do!

If you call the attitude you've got "having fun" then I feel sorry for you.  I hope Charles reins you in (or you do it yourself) because you're ruining the ambience at this lovely site.

Re: Can any underdogs take the Open

Good gracious.....

I like Berdych's draw. I wouldn't exactly say it is cake, but I would say he has a very good likelihood of reaching a 4th rounder with Monfils which will be a good match nonetheless.

Re: Can any underdogs take the Open

Personally, I think any of Berdych, Tipsarevic or Monfils could come through that quarter.  There's not much between them IMO.  I think maybe Tipsy will continue his mastery of Berdych and then lose to Le Monf, but that could easily play out differently.

Still, when you're a top 10 player and are playing a guy you're 0-3 against in the 3rd round, I fail to see how that is a good draw, much less the cake walk Aiur claims it is.
