Since Tomic is the betting favorite, I don't think you could call him winning unlikely.  I would think it's unlikely Malisse will win.

I mean winning the Wimbledon

The beauty of simplicity.

Re: Who You Want To Win v Who You Think Will Win?

Tomic to win Wimbledon, CrossCourt???

Waiter, I'll have what' he's having!

Re: Who You Want To Win v Who You Think Will Win?

Tomic is even quoted having said things don't look good for him next round seeing as he got destroyed in the practice set he had against Djokovic recently.

Re: Who You Want To Win v Who You Think Will Win?

Does everybody agree that finally an umpire had the guts to give Rafa a time violation warning in his match with Del Po? I can only assume that Rafa had crossed the line a couple of time before the ump decided to give it a go, Rafa pushes the limit on this sometimes, I know it gets under Fed's skin how slow Nadal plays the points sometimes.
It should be the same for all players, let them do it once, if they do it again then a warning, if it continues a point penalty and so on, I guess we are only talking a few seconds extra probably but same rules should apply for everyone shouldn't they?
Wally Masur reckons the pace Rafa plays at frustrates and breaks Roger's rhythm sometimes, don't know if I would go that far but Federer does enjoy playing quickly so maybe he has a point?

No, Tono, I don't agree, but I don't want to argue with you right now.  OK, mate?

Re: Who You Want To Win v Who You Think Will Win?

LOL... I knew you wouldn't agree Don! Not totally sure if I do but I have timed Rafa sometimes and he does take a lil longer than the time allowed, granted there is not much in it though, maybe it was just a gentle reminder to the King of Clay from the Ump.
I've just realised that the No.8 seed PETRA KVITOVA is yet to play on Centrecourt, she has had 1 match on Court 1 and will play her quarterfinal there too, is that fair for a top 8 seed and potential Champion?

Re: Who You Want To Win v Who You Think Will Win?

This has been a problem across the board. You should not get as much time as some of these players get to prepare to start a point. Unacceptable. It is in the rules, and if it is in the rules it needs to be enforced.

Re: Who You Want To Win v Who You Think Will Win?

Djokovic has improved quite a bit, he doesnt bounce the ball 22 times much now huh....LOL!
Is Rafa gonna get good news on his foot??? If he has a broken bone but is allowed to play through the pain, will he??
And if so will he still be good enough to beat the Fish?
Here's hoping he won't have to withdraw, the Djoker will get the No.1 ranking by default if that happens!

Re: Who You Want To Win v Who You Think Will Win?

Yeah, probably because he is a bit more comfortable with his serve now. Nadal needs the full time between points, and I won't complain as long as he is on time with his service. But if he truly is taking too much time, then I can't see how Don can argue. I guess Nadal is of the firm belief rules are made to be broken. Kind of fits his unconventional self.

Re: Who You Want To Win v Who You Think Will Win?

If he broke a bone, he is done. He cannot afford to risk further injury and he will retire.

If it is something very very minor, which I think it is (CONSPIRACY THEORY!!!!!!) then we may see him come back win this tournament and have everyone hail him as the greatest ever who even wins with broken bones.

I'm calling a minor sprain!

Re: Who You Want To Win v Who You Think Will Win?

A broken bone does not mean retirement.  What are you talking about?  That's crazy.

To say such things about an injured player is in the worst possible taste.  I personally resent it very much.

Re: Who You Want To Win v Who You Think Will Win?

A broken bone would lead to a Walkover, Withdraw, whatever you wish to call it Don. You're insecurity is showing right now. If he broke a bone, he will not play. That, in fact, would be in his best interests if it is the case.

Did I wish malice upon Nadal? Tell me once where I did. I honestly don't think he is injured terribly bad at all and it may not even warrant another thought.

I'm not insecure.  I'm calling you on very bad behavior.  Are you even aware what you said?  Perhaps you should go back and read it later.

And that's why I said "unlikely".

Re: Who You Want To Win v Who You Think Will Win?

Djokovic has bigger worries than becoming No.1.

Apparently, Nole has a poodle called Pierre that he wants to come with him to Wimbledon. Oweing to the UK's tough quarantine laws, they don't allow "Pierre Djokovic" in the country. Here is a snippet from an article:

'"He is upset he can't bring Pierre to Wimbledon and is pleading with the authorities to let the dog in," said a source in Djokovic's camp. "Whenever he can he takes the dog with him. He is genuinely upset. For him this is a very serious issue."

The dog even has his own profile on Twitter, under the name Pierre Djokovic. Since logging in on 14 June, the poodle has acquired 310 followers and has tweeted 19 times.'
