Topic: Incomplete team -> "pending" score
Hello,
If a player failed to choose 8 team members by the start of the tournament, shouldn't the score for the missing athlete automatically be "-16", like for a 1st round loss, instead of "pending"?

Hi BraveFlegmar,
There is a minimum requirement of 6 players for a team, and a part of this requirement is that you must have 1 unseeded player and 2 players seeded over 16 on your team. If you do not have these players selected then your team is not created and it is hidden from the tournament. Any team that is incomplete is therefore missing one or two top 16 seeds. This amounts to a huge loss in points and puts the person at a significant disadvantage. So if someone only wants to create a team with 7 players then they are totally welcome to do so, but this will hurt them quite a bit.
Thanks,
Charles
Hi Charles,
I see what you mean.
I guess my point of view was that not picking 8 players can be a disadvantage but can turn out to be an advantage as well. After all, even one of the top 16 seeds can go out in the 1st round and cost you 16 points, whereas not picking a player only costs potential points, with no risks of being penalized by 16 points.
No big deal anyway, and thanks for the reply.

I do see your point, but the odds of a top 16 seed losing in the 1st round is small. But you are right, it does happen once in a while though.
