Topic: Federer/Andreev First Round Match

Did anyone catch the Federer/Andreev match yesterday? I was stuck on a plane (if you have not flown Virgin America I highly recommend) and saw the whole match - it was amazing tennis. Andreev really had Federer sweating it in the first set with his aggressive forehand and topspin. It looked like Andreev had the third set in the bag too before Federer woke up and got on his game. The most amazing part was how hard Andreev was working to run around his backhand in order to play to his stronger forehand. It might have worked for him, but it's hard to keep up that level of pace for over 2.5 hours. He probably ran a mile more than Federer over the course of the match.

Re: Federer/Andreev First Round Match

The last time I flew was on Ryanair and the highlight was the selling of some bizarre smokeless cigarettes, so  I am jealous that another airline is showing tennis on their flights! yikes

No, unfortunately I didn't catch the match, but I have read the reports and it sounds thrilling.

Federer seems to be doing this more and more; trailing at the beginning then kicking up to that amazing gear of his. I guess it works, but it does give him some scares, like today,

omg that game made me sweat ballz.. i tot at first since andreev won the first match 6-4 i tot he would win overall...
his forehand is crazy it got strength, speed and accuracy but too bad it was just his forehand..i bet he could have push federer a little harder if he used his backhand also..so he wouldnt have to run constantly on the floor..but maybe in 2-3 yrs he may federer new rival   tongue..

Re: Federer/Andreev First Round Match

maybe andreev has what it takes to become big. the way he played against federer was phenomenol. some very good tennis...
