U are nuts! Lol

That seems reasonable to me!

Hi Marco.

Well, since pliskova and serena have been drawn in opposite halves, it is a bit unfair to all those who picked players that landed in the same half/quarter (which is the case for a lot of people!)

I think we can accept your winner picks, but not your finalists for the AO. For all other slams, no problem for me. And you can still pick the last minute picks for all the slam of course. That way, your penalty for late entry is not a high burden but still some points not achievable. You can definitely still win it anyway.

Does that sound reasonable to you, Marco? What do you think Milo?

Sounds good

Adunar wrote:

Guys, pleass do NOT UPDATE your picks here above. If you do, we wont be able to know if you changed any of your initial picks. Even if it is not the intention, it can be considered as an attemp to cheat.

So I kindly as you that for any new palpatine crystal ball picks (last  minute), you create a new post.

In the mean time, Milo could you register/save everyone's picks somewhere? Thank you!

I've created a document and have saved the picks there.

Make your picks for the PALPATINE CRYSTAL CUP so far the contestants include ...

THE GREEN QUARTER "QUINDECIM"

A GREEN QUARTER - GQ is defined as picking a full section of matches (11, 13 or 15 depending on draw size) correctly in a bracket style tournament; thereby turning that "quarter" ALL GREEN.  A GRAND SLAM GREEN QUARTER - GSGQ is a GQ that is completed in a Grand Slam tournament. A GOLDEN GREEN QUARTER - GGQ is a GREEN QUARTER that is completed during an Olympics, as was done by Tono and Oz in 2012.

Do you think you know who will win and be runner-up in the Grand Slams this year?

Join us for the inaugural ...

PALPATINE CRYSTAL BALL

Want to play?

Here's how ....

1) pick a winner and runner up for each slam before the friday of the first week of the season...Friday January 10th, midnight UTC for both men and women. These picks will stand as the "initial predictions" for the rest of the year and will reward the most points. A bonus of 5 points is available for correctly predicting the 4 slam winner(s) initially for men or women, this bonus is called the Calendar Slam Bonus.

2) before a slam, people are allowed, in ADDITION to their initial picks, make "last minute predicitions". People get to choose the winner and finalist of the slam with the deadline being the beginning of the first main draw match. As the draw will be out and current form will be known, points to grab are lower than the initial predictions. The winner and runner up can be the same or different than the initial picks, you can choose your strategy to maximize or diversify.

3) for the last minute pick, you can pick an additional player called your "dark horse". To be eligible, a player must be outside the top 20 in the atp/wta rankings in the week before the slam. (the top 20 ranked players will be posted here so you'll know which ones are ineligible). You will be rewarded 1 point for each match the player wins. You can pick 1 man and 1 women per slam.

4) a bonus is offered for a correct final match prediction, whether the predicted winner is correct or not.

5) points system:
Initial correct slam winner:
ATP: 5 (if Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer) or 7 (if any other player)
WTA: 6 (for any player)
Initial correct slam RU: 3
Initial correct final match prediction: 2
Last minute slam winner: 3
Last minute slam correct RU: 2
Last minute correct final match prediction: 1
Dark horse: 1 point per match won (max. 7)
Bonus for a calendar slam (atp or wta): 5

6) picks can be either (1) posted publically here or (2) sent in a PM or email to Milo. You choose.
milomilo3@hotmail.com

Example of initial 2020 picks:

AO:
Djokovic d. Federer
Barty d. Osaka

RG:
Nadal d. Djokovic
Halep d. Barty

WM:
Federer d. Djokovic
S.Williams d. Pliskova

US:
Djokovic d. Medvedev
S. Williams d. Osaka

For the last minute picks, same format for each slam and adding your two dark horses, example:

AO 2020 last minute :
Djokovic d. Federer
dark horse: Kyrgios
Barty d. S.Williams
dark horse: Wozniacki
