He is not a sore loser. Most players talk about reasons they lost - they were not on their game, they have an injury, etc.  Why should Fed be called out as a sore loser for the same sort of thing?

I'm with Nadal on clay, but Soderling is definitely one to watch out for.

According to SI.com, he'll play in the Hawaii regional June 6-8. Which, of course, triggers this question: What's a skier doing in Hawaii? Draws and schedule will be posted at http://tennislink.usta.com/tournaments/ … x?T=93791.

Did you see that lingerie/tennis outfit Venus was sporting? It certainly caught folks' attention. Maybe a good thing for women's tennis to get some more um...exposure, but with slinky lingerie? I'm not sure this sends a positive message to young female athletes.

me too. that really stinks. She doesn't seem to have much juice anymore. I kept thinking she'd come back out of this slump eventually, but now have my doubts.

tenniswarehouse.com has a great demo program. You can demo up to 4 racquets at a time for a week, for the cost of shipping. It cost $11 for me to demo 4 racquets (in NorCal).

The Dunlop 4D series is pretty sweet. I tried the 4d 7hundred, which is an oversize. As the numbers go down, all the way to 4d 2hundred, the racquets are more geared towards expert players.

Your teams are not gone. See the other threads in this forum about this issue. All "missing" teams are still in the database, and work is in progress to resolve the issue so the teams are visible in the UI again. This will be fixed as soon as possible!

thanks all for your patience.

Interesting Op-Ed in the New York Times today suggesting that Federer is savvy for challenging line calls more often and that other players should make use of the available 3 challenges per set. I can see how this could be a good strategy, though generally it relies on "calculated strategery" to win points instead of sheer skill so I'm not sure I'm totally on the same page. What are others' thoughts?

I agree - Fed is on a roll and there is no reason for it to stop now. But hoping Roddick can pull some nice moves and make it to the finals again...

They are asking Michelle Larcher de Brito to tone down her sound effects when playing:

http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/tennis … SHeadlines

She did it in the first round but says she will resume grunting when the matches get tougher. I think it is unfair to ask her to change her behavior. If she is focusing on her noises instead of her shots it is bound to affect her performance. I think a professional tennis player should not be so easily distracted by grunts from the opponent, unless they are made deliberately to create a distraction, which Michelle is not doing. I'm glad she is standing up for herself.

Other thoughts?

This just in:

Rafael Nadal has abandoned his trademark sleeveless tops and capri pants for T-shirts and above-the-knee shorts at this year’s Australian Open.

Apparently sports bloggers and fan forums have been puzzled by this new attire, with at least one female blogger complaining that she "missed seeing his sculpted biceps."

Are you kidding me?
There are actually people writing/thinking about this?

gimme a break!

welcome Magoo! Those Connors vs. McEnroe matches were epic. Despite the incredible skills of today's players, I have yet to seen the excitement of those days replicated.

Federer all the way! This is his time to match Sampras' record of 14 grand slam wins
