Absolutely incredible. You will never see anything even remotely close to this. Play suspended again after a 7 hour fifth set tied at 59-59. It will be such a shame for whoever loses.

I think it will be over quick today. If these guys want ANY chance to win anymore matches, it needs to finish ASAP. I'll say it's over in 7-10 games, if that.

wow, what a match! Isner looked so tired and Mahut was returning much better, but I am very glad that Isner won. that was a well deserved win!!

Isner may have won the match, but there was no loser. Both those guys are REAL winners. What courage, focus, determination, heart, sportsmanship! Utterly amazing.
I loved the way the ESPN commentators struggled to find analogies in other sports in order to express just how amazing the match was. At the end of the day, though, there was simply nothing to compare it to in any other sport. The match stands alone in the history of all sports, as far as I'm concerned. "Nothing like this will ever happen again -- EVER" said John Isner. Absolutely right, John.
I thought the most memorable comment was Brad Gilbert saying that he had played two 4 1/2 hour matches in his career and was cooked for 3 days after both of them. Think about that for a moment, and then consider what Mahut and Isner just did. It puts into perspective how ridiculous an accomplishment it was. 3 hours one day, then 7 hours the next, and another hour the next day just for good measure. That both guys were able to walk is surprising. That they could play at the level they did during the latter stages of the match really does not seem humanly possible.
Even if we reserved the word "heroic" for things that truly ARE heroic, it would still be a gross understatement in describing what those guys did. No one who saw it will ever forget it.
