Topic: Nadal again? I hope not.
Is anyone else hoping that Nadal does not win? He's an amazing player, but the French is becoming too predictable and therefore less exciting. How great would it be if someone totally unexpected won this year!

Sorry, nope! I´m very much hoping he does. But I think there are definitely people who think the same, and it would be exciting if someone managed to beat him! But I somehow doubt it; hes a powerhouse on clay!
Today Federer beat Nadal in the clay final in Madrid. What an amazing upset! Although I have a feeling that this will fire up Nadal even more for the French. Federer might not become #1 again, but this win gives me hope that he can play at the top for a while longer and maybe even win another grand slam.
It would be nice to have someone else get the title, but is it really possible?
Roger Federer is in with a shot, but beating Nadal in the Madrid masters final is not the same as in the final of the French Open.
Djokovic has been sort of up and down as of late, I'm not quite sure what hes going to like!
And Anyd murray isn't really much of a threat on clay, is he? He has been getting better I suppose.
And bobstheman I agree with you, it does give some validation to my hope Federer continues doing well at the top! Although maybe now he's got a kid on the way......
Roger all the way!!! As I said - he won in Spain, on Nadal;s turf. Now he's going to finally beat him in Paris.

I have a funny feeling that Nadal will win again. I think this would make 5 in a row, and be a record for must French wins in a row.
Yes Im getting the distinct feeling it's a bit inevitable!!
It's an inevitability, but I don't think he's going to find it necessarily easy. He won't walk to the final, certainly.
As a Brit I was disappointed that the women's trio didn't advance (but not necessarily surprised), but I won't pin false hopes on Murray to be the one to beat Nadal; I think that's very unlikely.
Wouldn't put it past Federer though....
We need someone like a Sergi Bruegera or a Gustavo Kuerten to show up - someone who's a demon on clay and no where else.
I've rooted for Fed to win this thing since 2005. The problem with Fed is that he has a huge ego. He thinks that he can impose his will on everyone he plays, and for everyone not named Rafael Nadal, and it usually works (except for Murray and Djokovic of late). I saw a small glimmer of hope at Australia when he attacked the Nadal second serve (which can be weak at times) with success, but he only did it a handful of times. He used the tactic much more in Madrid, and he found himself a straight set winner.
Even with that small glimmer or hope, I give him about a 5% chance of actually winning the tournament. The reality is that Nadal has never lost at Roland Garros. I think Monfils has a real shot at beating Fed if they were to meet in the Quarters. So to me, Nadal wins his 5th French in a row. I think the only people who can challenge Nadal are Novak and Monfils (if Nadal is playing mediocre).
