This is the best part about the article:

"The U.S. Tennis Association will try to create reality-show suspense and buzz by launching a national playoff that could lead to a spot in the U.S. Open main draw."

Wow, that's very cool. Can you imagine if they find a player good enough to compete at the US Open? This is great for tennis because it gets people interested and watching.

With wit like that I had better watch out, or you may get my job ;)

This was the first I had heard of this, sounds interesting though.

Djokovic's family were big on skiing, his parents were ski instructors and met on the slopes! So who knows, maybe there's a link somewhere between skiing and tennis...

I hope he does well. The whole playoff thing sounds an interesting idea in and of itself!

This should be interesting. Bode Miller, the world-class skiier, will try his hand at this open national playoff tournament:

http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/tennis/news/story?id=4859823&campaign=rss&source=TENNISHeadlines

Bode is a bit of a maverick in the skiing world, I can only imagine he might bring the same enthusiasm, competitiveness, and unpredictable behavior to tennis. It could lead to some interesting times ahead and I think it "bodes" well for the sport in general!
