Novak & Serena Continue To Dominate

Feb 3, 2015

The newly crowned men’s and women’s Australian Open singles champions, Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams, proved once again that they continue to dominate the world of tennis as they respectively set the benchmark in their chosen sport for their peers to follow, Djokovic claimed his 5th Australian Open title and his 8th career Grand Slam singles title after defeating long time friend and rival Andy Murray in the men’s singles final, Williams claimed her 6th Australian Open title and her 19th career Grand Slam singles crown after dispatching world No.2 Maria Sharapova in the women’s championship decider.

Both of the respective world No.1 ranked players once again underlined their supremacy at the top of the game in Melbourne and the question has now been raised yet again as to whether the chasing pack can dethrone either of the world’s top ranked tennis players in 2015, it’s only the beginning of the new tennis season but already most tennis fans are probably installing Djokovic and Williams as the pre tournament favourites for the French Open which commences at Roland Garros in late May, Djokovic has never won in Paris and the Serb will be keen to try and claim a career Grand Slam in 2015 while Williams will be looking to add to her impressive tally of Grand Slam singles title’s by winning her third French Open crown.

The 2015 season could easily unfold in many different ways yet, but Novak and Serena have certainly made a statement by winning their respective title’s in Melbourne, Australia, will the world No.1′s continue to dominate the sport this year, or was it just there time to shine once again on courts that they have been successful on previously, only time will tell.
